SJR College Of Law

Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya College of law (SJR College of Law) was the first ever private law college established in Bangalore. It was established under the aegis of the Mysore University in the year 1963. It was founded by the eminent legal educationalist Prof. P. Shivashankar.

The college initially offered a 3 year LL.B. degree, however, in 1999 the college introduced the 5 year B.A. LL.B degree. After the exclusive Law University, Karnataka State Law University (KSLU), came in to existence SJR College of Law is affiliated with it. We are also recognized by the Bar Council of India, in the acaedmic year 1999-2000.


This 57+ -year-old institution has a history of producing some of the stalwarts in the Judicial, Litigation and Corporate sectors. The institution however does not rest on the laurels of the past. The new is not only encouraged but embraced. Classrooms here are equipped with all the modern facilities, and the faculty applies modern and innovative methodologies to teach the students.

Apart from the facilities that are inherent to the college, the location also plays a key role. The college is in the heart of the city. It is close to the High Court, the Legislative Assembly and is the transport hub of Bengaluru. This makes it convenient for the students to apply for internship positions which the college encourages the students to undertake.

  • R.DEVDAS :
    Born on May 15, 1969; son of Justice M Ramakrishna, former CJ of Guwahati high courts. He did LLB from Sri Jagadaguru Renukacharya College of Law, Bengaluru, and practice law in banking and insurance. Served as additional government advocate since 2008 and as principal government advocate since 2014.

  • B M SHYAM PRASAD: Born on January 8, 1971 in Tiptur, Tumakuru district, son of justice B N Mallikarjuna, former judge of Karnataka HC. He did LLB from Jagadaguru Renukacharya College of Law, Bengaluru, in 1994. After enrolling as an advance on September 16, 1994. He practiced in appeal, revision and writ jurisdiction. He was made a designed senior counsel in July 2014.

  • S G PANDIT : Born on November 11, 1965 at Honnavar, Uttara Kannada . He completed his law course from Sri Jagadaguru Renukacharya college of law, Bengaluru, in 1989. He enrolled as advocate in 1990 and served as nodal counsel for UPSC, RGUHS, BIAAPA and BMICPA.

  • The students participated in 6th Intercollegiate Athletics Meet held at Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi on 23 and 24 February 2018. Mr. Ganesh .G.Naik 4sem 3rd year LLB STUDENT WON 400 mt 3rd place , 1500 MT 4th place 800 MT 4th place and Mr.Ganesh .G.Naik team won 2nd place in relay .
